Porterville AAUW paints path towards women’s education

The AAUW is painting a better future for women seeking a higher education by hosting a paint night at Imagine Arts Center to fund their paths towards college.

The Porterville branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is having a paint night at Imagine Arts Center in Porterville on Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $35 and refreshments and paint supplies will be provided. The paint night is one of AAUW’s monthly events to fundraise for their mission of creating equity for women who want to pursue higher education.

“What we want to do is be role models to (the girls) now and let them know that everything is open to them. There’s nothing that can stop them from majoring in anything that they want,” President of the Porterville branch of AAUW Maria Ramon said.
